Thank you, Dr. Margaret, for your insightful and inspiring presentation. You highlighted several important barriers that limit the active involvement of women scientists in innovation. In our context, we face significant challenges, particularly limited access to professional networking and mentorship opportunities, as well as inadequate facilities for advanced innovation and capacity building. Given these constraints, what strategies or practical recommendations would you suggest to help overcome these challenges and strengthen the participation of women scientists in research and innovation to have impact in transforming technology or what we have in hand?

Leverage digital platforms for global mentorship and "virtual" networking to bypass local constraints. Form collaborative clusters to share existing facilities and advocate for institutional resource-pooling. Finally, prioritize "soft-skill" training in pitching and IP management to ensure your research is "investment-ready," turning limited resources into high-impact, scalable technology.

What are the mechanisms to tackle such challenges to empower women to practice or to put their action that could be a good lesson to others ?
56 years

Institutional Policy Reform (The "Flexibility" Mechanism) Academic and research institutions must implement policies that account for the "double burden" many women face. This includes: Stop-the-clock policies: Allowing for career breaks or maternity without losing research momentum or promotion eligibility. Commercialization Credits: Recognizing patents, spin-offs, and industry collaborations as equivalent to high-impact publications in promotion criteria. On-campus support: Providing childcare and flexible working hours to ensure women don't have to choose between their breakthrough research and their families.
